Do you want to work in an office setting as an office manager, executive assistant, or administrative staff in some capacity but have no clue what the job entails or the skills you need to land the job?

To provide support as an administrative staff, you must be able to solve problems, as well as have excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills, as you will be required to manage various clerical and administrative projects or tasks. Such tasks can include mailing letters and packages, answering the telephone, corresponding to emails, scheduling appointments, and making travel arrangements.

You must be proactive, able to pay attention to detail, and create a positive work environment for customers, as administrative staff are often the first person customers see when they enter an office. You may also be required to order office supplies, restock the break room, and complete expense reports.

Each administrative job is different and contingent upon the needs of the employer. Some employers may require a high school diploma while others will require an associates degree and previous administrative experience.

To find a job as an administrative staff, work with your job coach, career consultant, or Employment Specialist to see what job and company is the best fit for you.
